PLATTSBURGH, NY - Schonbek prepares to conquer new markets with Aleax™, a new Geometrix® crystal design introduced in Dallas this January.
The name is inspired by Julius Caesar’s famous words as he crossed the Rubicon: “Jacta alea est!” or “The die is cast.”
“And indeed,” said Andrew Schonbek, “there’s no turning back when you decide to display Aleax™. This crystal cube will be the most compelling object in any room. It doesn’t act like a cube but rather balances on one tip in defiance of gravity, taking on the appearance of some kind of 3D diamond. And it sparkles beyond belief.”
Aleax™ is composed of oversized STRASS® Swarovski® Crystal or SPECTRA® Swarovski® Crystal octagons of extraordinary brilliance. The jewels form a solid crystalline surface by means of the patented method that Schonbek developed for Da Vinci™.
Aleax™ is not only unconventional in its orientation, but in its light source. The lamping is designed to accept Philips Halogená® Brilliant Crystal bulbs, the official bulb of the Times Square Ball since the start of the new Millennium. This energy efficient light bulb produces a stunning quality of light. In combination with Swarovski® crystal, the effect is spectacular.
This new Geometrix® design is expressed as a pendant and a table lamp. The pendant appears to float in space; the lamp is a crystal sculpture airily poised on a Polished Silver base. Flush mounts (in two designs) and wall sconces are also offered.
In every iteration, Aleax™ is dishwasher safe. The crystal panels pop off easily, so that cleaning is a user-friendly experience.
