7. Can I use a dimmer with my Geometrix®?
Yes you can. Electronic transformers work best with low voltage electronic dimmer switches. They provide smooth operation and greater sensitivity over the range of dimming. There is less chance of line interference and they operate more efficiently.
In the past people sometimes used standard incandescent switches because they were economical, but today the higher density of electronic components and sophistication of circuits make electronic dimmers necessary.
Best results are achieved with electronic low voltage dimmers, installed on the primary side, and evaluated for noise level and performance.
Be sure to have a certified electrician determine the maximum load for your system and size the dimmer accordingly.
Three- and four-way circuits are not compatible with electronic transformers.
